website-layout-2Just don’t focus on the home page, keywords and titles.

The first step to sales when customers visit your site to see the products they were looking for. Of course, search engine optimization and better rankings can’t keep your customer on your site or make them buy. The customer having visited your site, now ensure that he gets interested in your products or services and stays around. Motivate him to buy the product by providing clear and unambiguous information. Thus if you happen to sell more than one product or service, provide all necessary information about this, may be by keeping the information at a different page. By providing suitable and easily visible links, the customer can navigate to these pages and get the details.

Understanding Your Target Customer

If you design a website you think will attract clients, but you don’t really know who your customers are and what they want to buy, it is unlikely you make much money. Website business is an extension or replacement for a standard storefront. You can send email to your existing clients and ask them to complete a survey or even while they are browsing on your website. Ask them about their choices. Why do they like your products? Do you discount prices or offer coupons? Are your prices consistently lower than others? Is your shipping price cheaper? Do you respond faster to client questions? Are your product descriptions better? Your return policies and guarantees better than your competitor’s? To know your customer you can check credit card records or ask your customer to complete a simple contact form with name, address, age, gender, etc. when they purchase a product.

Does your website give enough contact information?

When you sell from a website, your customer can buy your products 24 hrs a day and also your customers may be from other states that are thousands of miles away. Always provide contact information, preferably on every page of your website, complete with mailing address, telephone number and an email address that reaches you. People may need to contact you about sales, general information or technical problems on your site. Also have your email forwarded to another email address if you do not check your website mailbox often. When customer wants to buy online provide enough options like credit card, PayPal or other online payment service.

robotic-spider-smallIt is the search engines that finally bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. Hence it is better to know how these search engines actually work and how they present information to the customer initiating a search.

There are basically two types of search engines. The first is by robots called crawlers or spiders.

Search Engines use spiders to index websites. When you submit your website pages to a search engine by completing their required submission page, the search engine spider will index your entire site. A ‘spider’ is an automated program that is run by the search engine system. Spider visits a web site, read the content on the actual site, the site's Meta tags and also follow the links that the site connects. The spider then returns all that information back to a central depository, where the data is indexed. It will visit each link you have on your website and index those sites as well. Some spiders will only index a certain number of pages on your site, so don’t create a site with 500 pages!

The spider will periodically return to the sites to check for any information that has changed. The frequency with which this happens is determined by the moderators of the search engine.

A spider is almost like a book where it contains the table of contents, the actual content and the links and references for all the websites it finds during its search, and it may index up to a million pages a day.

Example:  Excite, Lycos, AltaVista and Google.

When you ask a search engine to locate information, it is actually searching through the index which it has created and not actually searching the Web. Different search engines produce different rankings because not every search engine uses the same algorithm to search through the indices.

One of the things that a search engine algorithm scans for is the frequency and location of keywords on a web page, but it can also detect artificial keyword stuffing or spamdexing. Then the algorithms analyze the way that pages link to other pages in the Web. By checking how pages link to each other, an engine can both determine what a page is about, if the keywords of the linked pages are similar to the keywords on the original page.
seo1Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret, to get credit for finding the most valuable search-results and to deter spam pages from clogging those results. A search engine may use hundreds of factors while ranking the listings where the factors themselves and the weight each carries may change continually. Algorithms can differ so widely that a webpage that ranks #1 in a particular search engine could rank #200 in another search engine. New sites need not be "submitted" to search engines to be listed. A simple link from a well established site will get the search engines to visit the new site and begin to spider its contents. It can take a few days to even weeks from the referring of a link from such an established site for all the main search engine spiders to commence visiting and indexing the new site.

If you are unable to research and choose keywords and work on your own search engine ranking, you may want to hire someone to work with you on these issues.

Search engine marketing and promotion companies, will look at the plan for your site and make recommendations to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic. If you wish, they will also provide ongoing consultation and reporting to monitor your website and make recommendations for editing and improvements to keep your site traffic flow and your search engine ranking high. Normally your search engine optimization experts work with your web designer to build an integrated plan right away so that all aspects of design are considered at the same time.

There are two major types of business models that entrepreneurs use to make money blogging. The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit
making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog's readers. The second kind of money making blog is one that helps a single brand improve its image by creating  positive associations between the blog and the product in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing.

e-moneyIf you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site,  you can let someone else do all of the legwork  or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue.  Within the first group, many people make money blogging by selling space through Google's AdSense program. The advantages of this program are numerous, as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster to begin raking in profits. However, most people discover that they make less money through this method than they had hoped that their blog would earn.

Selling advertising directly to companies who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the
topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route. People who have a strong background in sales and are experienced at pitching proposals can make quite a bit of money by renting blog space to interested companies.
The most serious problem with this model is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging.

As blogging becomes a more and more lucrative business, a lot of established companies are considering how they can get into the action. One way that
companies are capitalizing on the blog movement is by having blogs that provide a kind of friendly face for their corporation. Often, a company will employ an established blogger to create a weblog designed specifically to appeal to that company's customers and to create positive associations with the brand in consumers' minds. More than one writer who never even dreamed that he or she could make money blogging has been approached by a company and offered quite a pretty penny for this kind of gig.

today in my nice weekend i try to make myself busy by reading very good book about the history of indonesia especially java coffee. The book was " A Cup of Java Gabriella written by Teggia and Mark Hanusz ".

a-cup-of-javaFor an increasing part of the world, coffee has become a potion of infinite delight.

But while modern coffee shops are mushrooming in the cities of the world, one tends to ignore the origins of coffee. There is of course ""Turkish coffee"" or ""Irish coffee"", but these terms refer to the way of coffee serving rather than to the roots of the coffee bean. ""Java coffee"", however, has a long history, and one that links politics with economic windfalls and social conditions.

A Cup of Java, a book of 142 pages and numerous pictures, is told by Hanusz, author of the noted Kretek, and Teggia, one of the founding partners of the Losari Coffee Plantation.

Divided into four chapters, the book describes how a coffee seedling smuggled out of the Arab port of Mocha made the Dutch the first to transport and cultivate coffee commercially, in Ceylon and in their East Indies colony -- Java.

The cultivation of coffee had such an important impact on the coffers of the Dutch it led to its inclusion in the notorious cultuurstelsel, by which peasants in the East Indies were forced to plant cash crops.

While the system caused the intense suffering of the people, its legacy turned out to be on the brighter side, as evident from the over 100 private and government plantations that are scattered along the slopes of the volcanoes over the entire length of Java.

Taking a close look at some of the most venerable plantations, the authors elaborately highlight the Losari Coffee Plantation in the highlands of Central Java, 900 meters above sea level.

This should not be surprising as Teggia has, since 1990, been one of the owners of the renovated estate that was formerly named Karangredjo Coffee Plantation.

Part of the plantation, which is surrounded by eight volcanoes, is a resort where traditional structures and techniques have resurrected the traditional joglo and limas housing style as added value to tourists trying to escape current realities in the nostalgic atmosphere of the ""good old days"".

Particularly interesting is the chapter on Java's coffee roasters, which describes Tek Sun Ho as a brand established in 1878 (later renamed Warung Tinggi, or ""WARTIN""), whetting the tastebuds the same way Douwe Egberts does for a Dutchman, Lavazza for an Italian or Maxwell House for an American.

In 2001 the family enterprise split into two brands, one of which retains the Wartin name, and the other operating under the name of Bakoel Koffie. Kapal Api coffee, which regularly appears on TV ads, may have evoked the impression of being a new brand, but in fact it goes back to 1927.

Highlighting the role of coffee in Javanese culture and society, the authors have surveyed coffee as it is used as offerings for protection at the sacred tombs of warriors, or in trance dances where a dancer will eat coffee leaves to ""facilitate"" the trance, or to dye one's hair, to paint designs on cigarettes, the Java coffee scrub in massages, or to produce a certain batik pattern.

While the book does not match the famous epic of the Kretek, it testifies to solid research of the subject, comes in a small, handy format and is certainly more affordable.

I've heard that Some coffee-lovers like YOU maybe, feel that flavoured coffee is a travesty..how come?

Personally, I like flavored coffee, though I usually stick to the traditional varieties like Vanilla, Hazelnut ect. I've not experimented with newer concoctions, like blueberry, rum raisin or candy apple. That's just not 'coffee' anymore, in my own opinion.

I've heard from many faithful coffee drinkers that flavored coffees are just terrible. Not because the taste is terrible, but because the whole concept of adding flavors to coffee is disrespectful to the coffee. Coffee has such a wonderful flavor on its own, why mess with it?
